01 The Visuals

This project was driven by energy, using daring mountain bike stunts as the visual engine of the story. The high-octane nature of the action became the foundation for the cinematography, with the visual language designed to match and amplify its pace, movement and intensity rather than simply document what was unfolding.

Shooting on the streets with a minimal crew required an agile and instinctive approach. I needed to work quickly when finding compositions and capturing moments, often responding to the action as it unfolded. To push the sense of scale and speed, I brought in a drone operator for several sequences where traditional camera positions would have limited the visual impact. I also drew on my own skateboarding background for select shots, allowing me to physically move alongside the rider and create a more immersive connection with the action.

“The high-octane nature of the action became the foundation for the cinematography, with the visual language designed to match and amplify its pace, movement and intensity.”

Lens choice was equally important in establishing the film’s character. I selected Clavius lenses from Richard Gale Optics for their distinctive optical qualities. They combine a contemporary level of sharpness with a softer, lower-contrast rendering, while their characteristic swirly bokeh introduces a unique sense of movement and depth. This gave the film a visual identity that felt energetic and modern without becoming overly clinical.

02 The Brief

Colt Technology Services is a global telecommunications company headquartered in London, connecting businesses across more than 40 countries through an extensive fibre and network infrastructure. With such a technically complex operation, the challenge was to translate that scale and connectivity into a corporate film that felt accessible, energetic and visually engaging.

The film, titled Agile, immediately suggested a visual language built around movement, pace and momentum. Rather than relying on traditional corporate imagery, the creative called for something bold and dynamic that could communicate the energy behind the company and its people.

From a production perspective, the shoot presented its own challenges. We were working on real streets in the middle of the day with a minimal crew, meaning every setup needed to be carefully considered and efficiently executed. We had to work quickly while remaining flexible enough to respond to the environment around us, maximising what each location could offer.

This efficiency became particularly important towards the end of the day. Our final setup was scheduled around golden hour, giving us only a narrow window before losing natural light. Through careful scheduling, preparation and disciplined execution on set, we captured the final shot with only minutes to spare — bringing the production in on schedule while retaining the ambitious visual approach of the brief.
